Bisclavret *** Marie de France

This is a story about Bisclavret, a werewolf that Marie describes as a noble and a hero. He was transformed into werewolf and minimum ways to get into touch with humanity. One of main characteristics about Bisclavret is that he was beast. His human emotions were intact which I was really surprised. He confessed his unconditional love about his wife and ironically she cheated on him. I identified that the story was during the Medieval Era because Bisclavret`s wife had a lover (characteristic from the middle ages). Bisclavret had some physical and emotion changes after his transformation, such as, his physical appearance of a werewolf and his desire for revenge that can be explained by bad acts that people made him go through. The story can be related with some reading about the Medieval Era. Some of the facts are : Bisclavret`s wife couldn’t run away with her lover due to the damages that could cause on her reputation, it was an arranged marriage, among other things. This reading also relates with Equintan and La Fresne due to some of Marie de France’s characteristics, such as, selfish love, equal rights, control of ourselves, among other things. I also found very interesting that Marie de France refused to relate her story with a fary tale, even know it is.
