Poem: Friendship's mystery: To my Dearest Lucasia

The main idea of Katherine Philips on the poem Friendship's mystery: to my Dearest Lucasia was to make a comparison between her friend which she loved Lucasia and the dedication and of following and the believes of the church. Through her poem she tries to prove her real friendship for Lucasia. The poem tries to balance how a men and a woman should balance a friendship between to people that have a lot in common. Phillips writes that her and Lucasa ``were design'd t'agree``, which means that women were created by God to be partners and companions for man through the rules of traditional Christianity Church she wants to say that herself and Lucasa were meant to each other. She emphasizes that friendship between women should be the same as men even though being lesbian is a sin on the bible. Philips wrote on the poem many religious words in order to prove that her relationship was not wrong.
