Marie’s short Bio:

Mary Sidney Herbert was an English poet that had an important role for literature during the Age of Spenser. She is well known for a project about her verse translation of biblical psalms that was created with her brother and after his death she completed. Some of the main characteristics that her poems have is a strong emotional tone and a personal tone as well. Sidney's poems influenced Queen Elizabeth’s poetries. She married with thirteen years old and was involved in an affair.

Poem: Psalm 102

The poem Psalm 102 by Mary explores strong factors through the story in order to explain the exact definition of the lament. The importance of being aware with time, the nature and the attention of the lament is defined in the story as “scribal commentary``. Her ideas and descriptions to explain the definitions are really unique and interesting. She relates time describing that tragedy can be the result of the time of the prayer. There is a format on the structure of lament that are composed by address to God, complaint, petition, confession of trust and words of assurance. Laments can be understood on the poem as bringing inspiration. It is clear on the reading how Mary’s feelings were towards tragedy. She also emphasizes on the how challengeable it is to identify the solution involving tragedy.
